Welcome to Happiness is a Book Away... Blog!!

Hi, my name is Hannah and I love young adult literature! I am starting this blog, "Happiness is a Book Away..." to review upcoming YA novels, as well as the occasional older YA books. I have been interested in starting a blog for years now, but never seemed to get around to actually doing it. I am so excited to start reviewing YA books. I hope this blog can help you find some amazing literature to read. My goal is for you to have as much fun reading the blog as I will have writing them!

I have many many favorite authors, books, and series, so I will just name a few to give you an idea about my reading preferences. Sarah J. Maas is my favorite author of all time. If you haven't checked out her Throne of Glass series, I HIGHLY recommend you do! You will definitely be hearing more about her and her upcoming novel Heir of Fire (the third book in the Throne of Glass series) when it comes out in September! I also adore Jenny Han and her "The Summer I Turned Pretty" series; again, if you haven't read it, you really really should. I also enjoy Richelle Mead, Laini Taylor, Becca Fitzpatrick, and many more authors.

I also recently started a bookstagram called "BEEN THERE READ THAT" (only without the spaces between the words, so more like beentherereadthat). I am very excited to have an instagram page dedicated solely to books! I try to post creative and fun images of books I've read, am reading, or want to read. Please feel free to check it out and follow me for some cool pictures, and even more recommendations!!

I'll leave my first blog post with a few images of books you HAVE to read, if you haven't already!

First on this list...
You got it! THRONE OF GLASS by SARAH J. MAAS

In a land without magic, where the king rules with an iron hand, an assassin is summoned to the castle. She comes not to kill the king, but to win her freedom. If she defeats twenty-three killers, thieves, and warriors in a competition, she is released from prison to serve as the king's champion. Her name is Celaena Sardothien.

The Crown Prince will provoke her. The Captain of the Guard will protect her. But something evil dwells in the castle of glass--and it's there to kill. When her competitors start dying one by one, Celaena's fight for freedom becomes a fight for survival, and a desperate quest to root out the evil before it destroys her world.

Number two on the list is...
THE SUMMER I TURNED PRETTY by JENNY HAN

Belly measures her life in summers. Everything good, everything magical happens between the months of June and August. Winters are simply a time to count the weeks until the next summer, a place away from the beach house, away from Susannah, and most importantly, away from Jeremiah and Conrad. They are the boys that Belly has known since her very first summer -- they have been her brother figures, her crushes, and everything in between. But one summer, one wonderful and terrible summer, the more everything changes, the more it all ends up just the way it should have been all along.
(Again, thanks to Amazon.com!)

This is a beautiful summer beach read with a strong triplet of lead characters.

Lastly I'll leave you with book three...
DAUGHTER OF SMOKE & BONE by LAINI TAYLOR

Around the world, black handprints are appearing on doorways, scorched there by winged strangers who have crept through a slit in the sky.
In a dark and dusty shop, a devil's supply of human teeth grown dangerously low.
And in the tangled lanes of Prague, a young art student is about to be caught up in a brutal otherwordly war.
Meet Karou. She fills her sketchbooks with monsters that may or may not be real; she's prone to disappearing on mysterious "errands"; she speaks many languages--not all of them human; and her bright blue hair actually grows out of her head that color. Who is she? That is the question that haunts her, and she's about to find out.
When one of the strangers--beautiful, haunted Akiva--fixes his fire-colored eyes on her in an alley in Marrakesh, the result is blood and starlight, secrets unveiled, and a star-crossed love whose roots drink deep of a violent past. But will Karou live to regret learning the truth about herself?
(Synopsis again from Amazon.com!)

This is a very unique book that every YA fan should read! Laini Taylor takes it to another level completely with her beautiful world of angels and monsters. MUST READ!
